I happened to be watching the Enron hearings just a few minutes
before encountering this question and I would have to say that "Thou shalt
not steal" probably originated, at least in part, from alphas trying to
keep the unwashed masses quietly naive.
I have some notions about Thou Shalt not Commit Adultery, also ...
